The real osso buco is slow cooked, complete with veal shanks and a medley of tomatoes, perhaps a hint of wine… our take is slightly different, after all chicken does have a tendency to make it more often into our homes and onto our plates.. Once i learned about lamb osso bucco, i sort of lost my mind thinking of the possibilities and flavor additions that could be made with this wonderful dish. i love the fall off the bone, melty, and flavorful meat, but the best part is the bone marrow.. If you have kitchen twine tie the shanks. add oil to a blitzing hot pan and sear meat on both sides. set aside. turn down heat just a bit then add the onion, celery, & carrots and cook until browning..

Osso bucco is one of my husbands favourite meals, he especially loves the marrow bone. before we got our slow cooker i just cooked this sauce on the stove in a large pot.. Osso buco is italian for “bone with a hole” which refers to the marrow hole at the center of the cross cut veal shank. this dish’s primary ingredient, veal shank, is common, relatively cheap and flavorful..
